Endless Summer

The end of summer? I’ve heard people talk about it for weeks even as the temperatures stayed up in the 80s.

For some, summer “ends” when school starts. For others, Labor Day or the end of rental season in the Hamptons (a New York thing) marks "the end."

When I was a kid the summer seemed to go on forever; now the months seem to fly by between the first blooms of Spring and the vibrant leaves of Autumn.

I saw a post about Halloween already which means Christmas must be just around the advertising corner.

Back to summer … we could go by the autumnal equinox which is September 22nd this year, but as long as the temperature allows me to hit the trails in a t-shirt and shorts it’s summer. When does summer end for you?

That's a tough one now that we are down south. But historically, I always felt once August rolled around, just after My birthday, summer seemed to end. Yesterday my wife and I say in our backyard with temps in the mid 70's, it felt cooler than inaide with the breeze. We knew summer was ending soon. Sun position has changed too.

September is the best time to go to Rockaway beach, no crowds, less humidity and the sun is still strong. 9/22 sounds good to me!!!

Summer ends when I realize it is getting dark as I am finishing my daily after dinner walk with the dogs.
