The Sounds of Suburbia

Waking up on a sunny Saturday morning, brewing some delicious coffee and venturing out my back door to feel the sunshine and listen to the sounds of suburbia waking up.

I found a video so you can share in my experience.  (BTW, there were three of them in my neighbors yard)

Most areas have sound ordinance rules about noise for certain hours. By me, nothing before 8 am and never on Sunday. Still there are violators out there.

Comes with the territory. I'm always amazed at how many different landscaping companies there are doing business in my neighborhood.

I've proposed a law to rid NYC of these noisy and otherwise environmentally harmful machines. I devoted a chapter of The Public Ought to Know to the issue.

And then do they fill up big plastic bags with leaves and send them off to the landfill furthering the disruption?

Disturbing the cycle of leaf decay-to-animal and insect life-to-regeneration of soil and seeds. An important concern is for all the people who do this without masks to protect them from breathing the flying debris and chemical residue in the plants. Plus the sound pollution, which is annoying but also harmful to the underpaid "lawn care" workers.
