Did you feel it?

 

I was in a meeting in Pelham NY when it happened. I thought it was so cool. People 300 miles from the epicenter felt the tremor which happened around 10:20AM yesterday The epicenter was about 4 miles southwest of Gladstone, NJ.

 

According to the U.S. Geological Survey tectonic summary, the earthquake occurred because of “oblique reverse and strike-slip faulting at shallow depths in the crust.” However, scientists do not yet know the exact fault that caused the earthquake. One well-known fault system in the area is the Ramapo Fault System.

 

All I know is the earth shook and we are reminded we are only pawns in Mother Nature's game.

 

(BTW, got an aftershock as I write this on Friday at 6P...nice!)

I remember calling my mother in San Francisco after a rather strong earthquake in Northern California. Her first words when picking up the phone were "It's not my Fault."

I knew exactly what it was the moment I felt it. I was working in my kitchen, in the exact same place I was in when we had the last one several years ago. And I felt the aftershock too!

I felt it as I was working at my desk upstairs at home when the room shook. Felt the aftershock too. Another sign telling us the the Gods must be angry (and with good reason too, I'd say).

Well, I missed the excitement being down south, but everyone in our Commack Office felt it. I hear NY is now showing the capability of having up to an 8.0 quake, which was never thought possible in the past. Times they are a changing.

right after my wife texted me where I was interviewing pols electeds and wannabes with colleagues in organized labor, all our phone alerts went off, almost in unison; and it repeated several times after. One subsequent post told us to shelter in place.
