What Is Your Favorite?
Marc Halpert sent me a great article the other day about the new New Haven. He started me thinking about all of the great places to visit that I haven’t seen. Which then started me thinking that with an anniversary approaching, it is time for Bill and I to plan a weekend away. Not too far from New York, maybe a few hours’ drive.
If it was summertime, I know we would head to Montauk which happens to be one of my favorite places. And as to visiting New Haven, since there is a reasonable chance that we will be spending a lot of time there over the next few years, I think we will wait to start that exploration.
Any suggestions for us? What is your favorite weekend getaway? [And, to our members outside New York, in Connecticut and Massachusetts, please chime in! Sorry South Florida, I can’t get there for a weekend.]

There's nothing better than going to Hudson, NY. Amazing restaurants, scenery, piece and quiet!

If maybe a rented limo was involved, a wine country tour on LI's north fork or the Hudson Valley could be nice. I would probably stay in Greenport in I were using a hotel but we have family nearby in Southold. In Greenport, you need to visit Uncle Pete's used bookstore, The Book Scout (http://northfork.patch.com/listings/the-book-scout).
