Cafe’ Con Leche

Every weekday morning I get up bright and early and go to 5 Brothers (pictured) for the best coffee on the island served up by Pepe.

I wait my turn as the early bird (before 6:30 official opening time) regulars troop in for their daily dose of caffeine.

The regulars occupy the main bench next to the entrance and can be heard in their exuberant predawn chatter while I’m around the corner silently waiting my turn.

Cafe’ con leche is strong coffee mixed with scalded milk in approximate equal amounts dosed with sugar.

It’s an easy addiction, but to be honest my daily dose of those good old boys is even better :)

Morning routines in Paradise. What could be better? Back in NY for a couple of days. 15 degrees outside now does not agree with me.

How we start the day sets the tone for everything that follows - being with friends getting juiced up for the day is perfect!

It's ALL about the morning routine! I wake up, make the bed then make an iced coffee which I experiment mixing flavors. Currently drinking Tim Hortons medium blend 3 parts with 1 part Dunkin Donuts hazelnut. People ask me, "why do you drink iced coffee when it's zero degrees windchill in the winter?" My response is, why do you drink hot coffee in the summer? Happy Friday Gothamites!

The best coffee comes from the most unexpected spots!

Love this so much! Beautiful ritual. Coffee is critical for a “good day!” :)) My favorite coffee/ritual is the brew my beloved hubby makes. He grinds the beans and knows the perfect amount of half and half. The best part of my day (and life really lol) is that he brings me mine in bed.

When I saw your email with the headline, "Cafe Con Leche," my instant thought was "Gotta be 5 Brothers." I had a tank top from there for years. I am thrilled to know you start your day this way. One day soon, I will join you.

Love this. I treat myself on weekends-and weekdays if I am working from home-to fresh french pressed coffee. It just adds a little something special to my day.

I was just talking to him about you :)

Greetings from the tundra! *I can smell the aroma of your Café con Leche from Nuevo York! A great way to rise with the sun and savor your now. It's actually a form of meditation. Enjoy!

I drink my coffee black but your description sounds enticing. I'll try it soon in my local Latin restaurant! Cheers Fred!

Prefer my home brew. Black Coffee, but not as this great song suggests, in Bed: https://youtu.be/5a7RhwGChzY
