How about the dress code. Look at theoldfootage of sports events and notice all the men are wearing jackets and ties

I've thought about the fact that my mother, who died in 1985, would not recognize a phone, a fax machine, a laptop or tablet, even a television. She thought that you saw movies in a theater (I remember watching a each of our first videotaped movie at my brother's house shortly before she died) and that photographs were taken on film and passed around. She was never in a car with airbags and could smoke her unfiltered Camels anywhere. She didn't believe in credit cards and reluctantly got one only when she had to rent a car and they wouldn't rent to her without one.

At the cost of giving you another comment, ATMs and debit cards.

By the way, as long as I'm giving you another comment, great topic.

I was in the kitchen of my Frat House at Rutgers. I was a waiter that night. White jacket and all. It was a Friday night. Our brothers were not permitted at the dinner table unless they wore a jacket and tie. Thanksgiving was the following Thursday. We were looking forward to heading home in 6 more days to celebrate with our high school friends...I think we were all going to the Peppermint Lounge to see Joey Dee and the Star Lighters. "Well they've got a new dance and it goes like this....Bop Shoo Op A Bop Bop Shoo up"........We had just put in a huge Prime Rib into the industrial gas oven...Dinner would be at 7...Mrs. Peters (our 80 year old alcoholic housemother) came into the kitchen crying...not unusual we thought. She said..."President Kennedy has been killed!" It was November 22,1963. My life changed forever. It was the end of my innocence. I was 19 years old. The protection of "The White Picket Fence" of my life was over....I think I became a man that day...Poignant to say at the least..Change you ask? Maybe this is not what you were looking for Fred...But on the 50th anniversary of JFK's death I find it appropriate....The roast is still in the oven I presume.

1. Having to enlist the assistance of a 13-year-old to be able to get the $#*&@ printer to work.
2. The imminent introduction of cars that drive themselves.
3. Sleazy, awful television shows that would never have been allowed on the air a short while ago.
4. The ubiquitous and constant overuse of foul language in public.
5. The incredible medical advances and so many lives saved and bettered.
6. Diversity (mostly a very good thing).
7. Political correctness.
8. At least around this part of the world, all the wonderful ethnic foods that are available.
9. Cars again: How they're so much safer than those of twenty years ago.
10. Skype, wherein my wife can have a conversation with her friends in Argentina, Spain and Australia simultaneously and it doesn't cost me a cent!

Mr. Sends, I almost pulled my blog early this morning as I realized the significance of this horrible date. Thank you for your dose of sanity!

Life in general has changed for everyone, everyday and in every way. As we changed our parents lives, so have our children/grandchildren changed ours and. Things that we took for granted are no longer so. Medicines that your Doctor told you to take because they will cure you of what-ever, now come with a long list of side effect. Most people are eating healthier, living a healthier life style being more active, hence, Sixty-Five is no longer considered old, it the new Thirty. Live Long and Prosper.
