Time for a New Book

Categories
Books

I finished Defending Jacob at the end of the summer and then went straight to Once We Were Brothers (at Ben’s recommendation. Great book.).

I am currently in the middle of Unorthodox but I expect to be finished with that in a day or two.

So, I am getting ready for something new to read.

Any suggestions? Can you tell me your most recent favorite read?

It may even be worth a re-read because of the twists and turns in young artists' careers 40-50 years compared to what we see today: For What It's Worth: The Story of the Buffalo Springfield. How people connected by fate multiple times. A song taught by one person separately to two others. A visit to your girlfriend and a visitor has you check out a new LP and you get motivated to reach out to friend. A chance meeting in a traffic jam. A lot of the themes covered in a number of recent blogs.

The Light in The Ruins by Chris Bohjalian which is the next up for Julie Klein's Gotham Book Club. WW II Italy with flash forwards to 1955

Because of the Gotham Book Club and having read What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty which I enjoyed so much, I have read many of Moriarty's books. I just finished The Husband's Secret which I couldn't put down. Would love to know the opinion of someone from a legal prospective. So, Nancy, if you decide to read The Husband's Secret, please make sure we get to discuss it afterward. Thank you again to Julie Klein for introducing me to Moriarty's writing.

The Awakening by Kate Chopin. Not a recent best seller, but a wonderful book

I loved The Husband's Secret!! Phyllis, I want to be a part of that meeting. Like Phyllis, I became acquainted with Liane Moriarty's writing because of the Gotham Book Club. Also wonderful was her book, "The Hypnotist's Love Story."

Nancy have you read "Gone Girl" or "Gone?" I couldn't put either one down.

What Is The What by Dave Eggers - About a Sudanese refugee and his journey during the civil war. Wonderfully written and unbelievable how anyone survived this horrendous experience.
Cynthia Somma

I just started Outside The Lines by Amy Hatvany, not far enough into it to recommend it.. I'll let you know :)
Really going to miss Tom Clancy...
