The club

I've recently became part of a guys book club and having never been part of one before, I didn't know what to expect. My initial perceptions were not what I experienced. Rather than a boring meeting talking about the finer points of sentence structure, it's filled with good laughs, stories, politics and sometimes talking about the book. Suffice it to say that our "discussions" are wide ranging. I can't divulge any more information otherwise...well you know.

Joining a new group of guys always has its' rituals and dynamics which is fun and fascinating. Putting a bunch of us together with beer, pizza and salad can be a dangerous thing sometimes but it is always enjoyable. And the books we read so far are pretty good. The latest, Destiny of the Republic, which is about Garfield's short presidency was fantastic. And the insights gained from the other guy's perspectives are fascinating.

It also forces me to read a book that's not business related, which I haven't done in years. There's nothing like reading a great book. Have you read any lately?

I am currently reading 6 books (two on my nightstand, two on the iPad, 2 on the phone...I know sick, but I'm always covered :)
If you want to read a book that will shake you to the core as a parent;
We need to talk about Kevin.

Book clubs are the best! I can't really imagine an all male book club. Glad it works.
I've belonged to the same on for 15 years..I wouldn't trade it for the world!
Gotham's book club is awesome. Where else can you blog with an author in real time?'v

I also enjoyed Destiny of the Republic. Try Assassination Vacation by Sandra Vowel.

I guess your book club isn't reading "Fifty Shades of Grey?" Seriously, I hope you truly enjoy it. It's great to participate in something so far removed from work.

I have been leaning towards music autobiographies lately perhaps to relive/ review a period when I formed my music leanings
