Meeting at the Farmer's Market

Happy and Healthy New Year!

There's a custom associated with the Jewish New Year to dip sliced apple and/or challah in honey -- to bring in a sweet new year.

With that tradition in mind, Flo and I made our way to the Framer's Market in West Tisbury (Martha's Vineyard) last week to get honey for ourselves and family.

The farmer's market is not-to-be-missed.

We had just purchased our honey and we were talking to some friends when I noticed a familiar face coming toward me through the crowd.

"Hello Ron, what brings you to the Vineyard?" It was fellow Gothamite Ron Fatoullah and his wife Carol. Our conversation took us all over the Vineyard -- where they were staying, where we were staying and what we had done during our visits. Later that afternoon, Ron and Carol came to visit us at the Outermost Inn, our home-away-from-home on the cliffs of Aquinnah.

Gotham encourages members to get together between meetings and other events. I wonder whether meeting at the Farmer's Market is what we had in mind.

I run into Gotham members all the time in NYC. Even if we don't stop to chat, just seeing a smile and getting an air kiss while we run in different directions boosts my day.

My daughter's sleep away camp sends jars of honey to all the campers every year. It's a great tradition.
