Dog Day Afternoon

Categories
Lifestyle

As we wrapped up our day over a beer, I remarked to my wife, "We were victims of not-for-profit, psychopathic, serial dognappers!"

Ironically, I had just recently commented on Fred's blog about our young dog that we had "rescued" after he had lost his home in a fire.  I was not dying to get a second dog, but the rescue dog group had a table at my wife's workplace and she was reeled in hook, line and sinker and nobody I know deserves a break more than her.

Diesel, or as I call him Scraps (from the great movie Airplane) is a fantastic lap dog with one horrible vice...he digs out of the yard under our fence.  It hadn't really been that horrible until this past weekend.  When Diesel digs out, we usually find him either standing on our front door step, or next door trying to play with his Dachsund friends.

This time he dug out and disappeared!

I called out for him, then drove around the neighborhood...nothing.  Nightfall was approaching and I had to go to work.  It occurred to me that someone in our household had taken his collar off recently, so there would be no record of his contact information on him.  We started to worry, especially my 11 year-old son.

To Be Continued...

Hope he gets found. E-media may prove helpful. Post some pics including with local media.

I hope Diesel/Scraps is found safe & sound! Does he have an ID chip? Get in touch quickly with NYC's Animal Care & Control because they wait for no one .... I also agree with Corey's suggestions.

story will be continued next week, but the opening line was actually said and I hoped would be viewed with the partial humor one would have after the situation had been resolved positively (after two days). No need for people to worry, thanks though.
