My Favorite Things

I spend a lot of time on the Long Island Railroad. One of my favorite things to do during an otherwise uneventful commute is to catch up on great television.

I found my love for Mad Men on the LIRR. (Really not a reference to my fellow commuters -- most days.) And then last year, Downton Abbey took Mad Men’s place. (I can’t wait for the new season!)

I am in the market for a new show that I can download to my Ipad. Breaking Bad is in the running.

Any suggestions Gotham? What is your favorite television series?

Ray Donovan, but Jo loves Breaking Bad.

Emily and I are addicted to Pretty Little Liars (PLL)--she for the story line, me because all of the parents of the kids on the show are actors that I grew up watching!
I am also an anything on Bravo junkie. Princess of LI. Like watching a train wreck. RH (all of them) Interior Therapy. Andy Cohen. I find it all so much fun to watch...alone!!!
And someone in Gotham (she shall remain nameless) introduced me to a snarky Real Houseswives Facebook page, where we talk about the shows. Trash talk that is...

Game of Thrones (If you haven't watched it all already), Ray Donovan, and I think my wife and I are going to start Under The Dome. If you never watched it before, I still say 24 was the best television ever.

Ooh.. where to begin.
Download Treme, from HBO - start with season 1. It is all about New Orleans post Katrina - both the great food and music are integral characters. Many of the actors are from another (and perhaps the very best series ever) The Wire. The Wire has been done for several years, but watch from Season 1 and you will be hooked.

Alan Sepinwall, a great TV critic has written a book called, The Revolution was Televised, which discusses how the cable networks have transformed TV - starting with the groundbreaking, The Sopranos. Very interesting

Cindy, my kids are addicted to Pretty Little Liars. I haven't let myself watch it yet. I am addicted to almost everything Bravo. An hour on the treadmill (or on the train) goes by quickly if I'm watching Real Housewives, Top Chef Masters, or Million Dollar Listing LA. I also love Project Runway, which is on Lifetime. And Erik is 100% right about 24. If you never watched it, it's worth downloading. Especially since they're now planning the film.

Rona. I've heard them back and forth about that for years but I thought it was dead in the water. Have you heard if it's still a possibility?

I am a few days behind while on vacation, but absolutely look for Homeland...wow, that is a good one.
