Blind Faith
It was my first concert at the Barclay's Center, and I had to leave at intermission. As I walked out someone was standing by the doors and asked me if by any chance I had an extra unused ticket. It turns out that I did.
At that point I was not interested in getting any money for my ticket. The show was great, and I was in the mood to be nice and let some one else share in it. So I gave him my unused extra ticket, told him where the seat was, and said "you will love it, enjoy the show." That felt good enough.
I walked towards the street and then noticed that this guy was still standing there. I had expected him to rush in, not wanting to miss the second set. I kept walking slowly, turning every few seconds to watch. And then sure enough, there he was selling the ticket I just gave him to some other young guy.
Sometimes you just put too much faith in people.

I train myself to watch for scalpers.
What show did you attend, depart early from, and like. I cannot recall leaving a concert early except when I bought the ducats for the opening act. I still think that only occurred when I went to a 1998 Coney Island for a free concert sponsored by the then State Senator now soon to be former Borough President Marty Markowitz. My brother, then working for Matry's predecessor, called me to advise that Poco would open the concert. I was excited since Poco had not played locally for several years -- five years by my count (verified by the Poco concert database -- http://www.angelfire.com/rock3/deliverin/pocoindex.htm -- DELIVERIN'). Out respect for John Fogerty, I did not give Creedence Clearwater Revisited a chance and left. I remember calling Marty afterwards and his "arguing" with me about the fake CCR.

As long as there is demand, the suppliers will be there.
BTW-who did you see?
