Quality Time

Nothing better than spending the day with my son, Patrick.

Last week my son called me complaining about his work load at school. Exhausted, he said “Mom, I just want to spend the day with you. Just you and me.”

What an easy one. I cleared my schedule and we spent the day hiking at Tyler Park in Bucks, County, PA. Both of us stayed completely present. We took in nature, identified as many critters as we could and even side-stepped a snake. Two hours in the car, 3 hours hiking (6 miles) and 1 hour eating. That’s quality time.

There was a time when my son and I didn’t have much of a relationship. Today, we celebrate a restored relationship.

We’ve come a long way, baby.

Hug those people you love.

What an excellent story! That is something you will always remember and he will never remember missing a day of math class! Victoria would do things like that with her girls a couple of times a year. I coached my my two sons in sports, so we spent tons of time together as they were growing up. I am so, so glad I did. Now my son Justin works with me and we are together almost every day. What a blessing it is to have that time!

Love it Carly. I did pull the girls out for “hooky days” and just spent a week with Dane (last one home) visiting my parents. There’s something awesome and profound about that one on one time.

Couldn't agree more...you should hug people at least 8 times a day ;-)
