My Afterlife

Categories
Lifestyle

I’ve come to the realization that there are three stages of life: Youth, Middle Age and “You Look Good!”

I can’t resist that line when someone tells me I look good.

Actually, in my case, the third stage is what I call my Afterlife.

No matter how long I live I will never retire.  Rather, I will revel in this stage as a sort of enjoyable, no holds barred Afterlife.

My friend Jay Gould said it best re this Afterlife: So true.  My real self, not my roles...

You know it is better to look good than to feel good! And you look marvelous!

Third time (or stage) is the charm. Do what makes you happy, don't do what doesn't make you happy and do all you can to stay healthy so you enjoy it as long as possible.
Dana Charlton

I knew you wouldn't retire! Or should I say, I'm so glad you are not Neither the Firm nor Gotham would be the same without you. You and Joanne are enjoying yourselves so much and Charcoal is happy to be wherever you are! You all look great! Love, Dana (Ret.)

You are so smart to realize the joys in this stage. Keep enjoying!

Love that. My real self, not my roles. Soooooooo. . . . who IS your “real self?”

Joy is something one must allow!

For so long we must “Play the role” despite our real inner self. You know it on our golf cart (for better or worse)!

Afterlife is the quintessential phase . A couple of tips . Prepare for it . Personal freedom comes with a cost . The cost being how do you get there from here . Starting early is the key . Play only one role in your life . So you will feel comfortable in your afterlife . I can do anything I like and say anything I like to anybody I like . Except of course on the Gotham Network where I am edited by Derf but not so much anymore . I’ve reined it in . The only big trouble I fear is pissing off Diane . That’s big trouble . The evil stare brings me to my knees. Hence noise cancelling blue tooth headsets for cannon fire and the Doobie Brothers .I eat what I want and drink what I want . Smoke what I want and fart when I want . I have no rules other than the Golden one and of course Diane’s rules . A T- Bone for breakfast ? Why not ? Nap during the day ? Maybe . Yankee game , swim , wrestle with my 2 Labradors . Read whatever I feel like . Never put on shoes . To summarize ...I’ll learn to play the saxophone and play just what I feel . And drink scotch whiskey all night long .......

I recently ran into someone I knew who clearly didn't recognize me. It was pretty obvious he didn't recognize me but he felt the obligation to say, "You look great." I found it a strange way to cover up.
