No mind

All we can be is ourself. At home, business, networking, with friends, family, etc. It is when we are truly present and authentic can we connect with ourselves and the people in our lives.

No mindThis reminds me of a scene in The Last Samuri as Tom Cruise is practicing combat with a wooden Samuri sword. He is continually getting a beat down until a young man comes over to him and says "No mind." It is only then that he is not beaten by the Samuri he is practicing with. He can clear his mind and truly exist in that time and space...totally present.

I find it increasingly difficult to do so in today's fast paced multi channel, multi tasking environment.       It's funny but I just stopped writing this to answer an email :-)!

Somtimes I'm able to find the spaces where creativity exists. In between focussed efforts or fast paced multi-tasking there is room where I seek no mind.

It’s like when you’re taking a shower.

Try turning the sound your phone makes when you get an email off. Without the alert, you get used to checking your email when you have time instead of stopping what you're doing every few minutes.

My best work is when its quiet with no distractions. Getting I to the zone is hard, but once there, time passes by effortlessly and much is accomplished.

Still trying to master mindfulness.

Excellent blog. An issue I have been struggling with too. I have been working on meditation (future blog topic). It is great to relax the mind for a few minutes a day.

Very interesting point. I usually like blocks of time for creative work. I know during law schools interruptions during study time -- pre cell phone etc. era -- led me to find places where no one could interrupt. While I allow alerts on the iPad and iPhone, few permitting on the Mac and easy to ignore.

Most mornings I meditate for 15 -20minutes. It really helps. So do deep breaths through out the day.
