Spring ball

When March arrives I anticipate and look forward to Spring. I think more about Baseball with opening day at the end of the month of late. Some other things of note occur on the Sports side. March Madness means College Hoops and pools for many. Football Free Agency starts in less than two weeks on March 14 (the draft about six weeks later, April 25-27). Yet as a bit of snow yesterday demonstrated, it forecasts no real relief on the weather side. But for me still the small round ball predominates (even while I continue to bounce and shoot the large round ball a weeknight and weekend day). I look forward to rooting for a team with more depth in its bullpen and at each position in the field – something it lacked in too many seasons when injuries devastated and I watched minor leaguers playing roles beyond their capabilities – and a season often lost. It might just be a good time to a Mets fan and proudly so.

That said the Friday blogger’s team look pretty good in the ‘pen and at bat.

Subway series anyone?

(And I am not talking July 3 when friends from Gotham and (FDR Lodge of) the Knights of Pythias join me at Citifeld.)

Admittedly, I've never been a big sports fan; but am counting the days until Spring makes an appearance.

Spring for me means the beginning of gardening season, although as I look out the window today, and listen to tonight's weather forecast, I am reminded that we must be patient. April will be here before we know it.

All seasons are equal, to me. I grew up in Northern California - so I love the fog and a London-style rainy day. I lived a number of years in Manhattan - so I love a hot August night and every sort of sleety street. I now mostly live in Connecticut, facing the Long Island Sound, so I love a thunder and lightning storm or anything with crashing waves, and spring is always delightful. All are equal in my heart.

With the change in climate, winter is continuing to drift into March and Spring. Spring then becomes a two week break and then the heat of summer hits. "Times they are a changing".

i can't believe I'm sitting here in March stressed about getting to court tomorrow in the snow. I am very ready for spring.

I hope that you play the little white ball at the Gotham outing in June

The options of health clubs with indoor pools and gyms for basketball help get me through the inability to enjoy nice outdoor climes.

I love sports. All sports. Baseball, basketball, football, soccer, softball....the list is endless. When spring arrives, you'll find me at Applebrook playing golf. I signed up for the Women's Golf Association of Philadelphia this year. My first match play golf--I'm nervous-- but thrilled to be able to play. Spring eternal--like Fred said.
