Host or No Host?

I must admit, I didn’t even notice that there was no host Sunday night for the Academy Awards.

The opening musical number was fabulous – Queen with Adam Lambert was a "wow". Followed by three just plain funny women – Maya Rudolph, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. And then off to the awards!

In my opinion, the show moved faster and with more intention than some wandering prior years. The fashions were as always, well, fashionable. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper steamed up the stage. And whether you agree that Olivia Colman deserved Best Actress for her role in “The Favourite” or think that Glenn Close was robbed again . . . Colman’s speech was hilarious, just plain entertaining and warm.

And last, I saw Green Book and liked it, but I’m still not convinced that it rose to the Best Picture category.

I’m voting for a “no host” show again next year – if anyone ever asks me to vote.

I'm with you on the Best Picture category. Julia Roberts did a swift job wrapping it up :)

Agreed, comments all around were that it was a better show than usual. We actually all said when it was over, we vote for no hosts going forward.

I thought I would miss the usual opening by the host. But the performance by Adam Lambert was definitely better.

Haven’t watched for a while - it got preachy. But I love Gaga. So I watched. Seemed great without a host. Loved Poehler, Fey and Rudolph. :) and Adam Lambert with Queen. Great opening!
Anybody have thoughts about Green Book winning??? Over Rhapsody etc???
