I hate when that happens! Yes, recently I noticed a charge for $39.99 on my Amex. When I looked into it, it was for a anti-virus software for a laptop I didn't own anymore. After digging, I noticed it was a small detail they "pushed" into the language when I originally installed the software. It required an active opt-out 2 years later. Grrrr..

I always check. Plus I added my credit card to the Wallet on my iPhone. Now I get a notice on my phone whenever there's a charge on that card.

Foolishly, I usually just skim over it and check charges that are over $100. I don’t know how I got a subscription to the National Inquirer, but I decided to keep it because they have a Bezos expose’ coming up.

I check every bank account and credit card every day. It takes about 5 minutes. Well worth it

I actually check. I am always calling apple and iFit and various other companies to check charges. Mostly it’s legit, but every once in a while you catch something. There was recently a $44 charge from Apple, and I couldn’t figure out what it was. Turns out it was the annual upgrade in storage for my data in the cloud. Sigh. Then there are the kids. Countless charges for chipotle and Uber. I gave up. Lol

I just disputed an $850.00 charge on Amex - somebody went to the Jingle Ball using my credit card. - HA HA HA

There are a lot of auto renewals out there. Anytime I sign up for something with a renewal date, I put a calendar reminder the day before to remind me to cancel. Helps prevent the auto renewals.

My husband checks every single bank account and credit card account every single day. Besides what you wrote about, there is also the hacking issue.

That's life in the fast lane! Happened to me as well, but I was able to correct it because of the Wallet App on my iphone. We have to be vigilant 24/7....a price we pay for the convenience of our technology.

I get email alerts every time my card is used and I am not present. Very useful.

I used to be careful but then I realized I had to take control of my financial footprint . In doing so I found that the size of my footprint varied directly with the amount of financial freedom I held . The whole credit reporting system is intentionally woven into a nightmarish web . Credit scores are the new prestige and can relegate you to the streets . In more ways than one . Both figuratively and literally . Their invasion is insidious . So rather than succumb to the forces of the insidious financial carnival I decided to beat them at their game . I have zero debt . ZERO . Our homestead is paid off . Free and clear . All credit card accounts are closed . We pay cash for everything . Bills are paid by online banking and the accounts never have more than 3 months living expenses within . We hedge inflation with gold . Cash is king . Amazon Prime is linked to a debit card . That account has a balance of less than $1000. So again ..... Do I care ? No. Can I get hurt ? No. Do I fall victim to predators ? No. Am I obnoxious ? Yes . Am I keeping my powder dry ? U-Bet ! And oh yeah ...... Trespassers WILL BE SHOT .
