I recently opened an occasionally-used news app on my smartphone. A notice appeared about the use of cookies by the app. Long legal explanations and disclaimers. A request to accept before going on. However, there was no ability to decline permission. I tried to get around the notice without consenting, but could not.

I thought about all of the warnings about tracking personal data. I considered that my personal data must be followed by other apps. I debated whether I really needed this particular news app.

I closed the app without consenting.

Once you’ve gone on the internet, privacy is lost, however the gains are infinite.

I believe every effort to maintain as much privacy as possible while on the internet is well worth the effort. I too would normally leave the site. Once or twice I proceeded without giving consent. My guess is that they would consider that acceptance but I am not sure. You can remove cookies but not selectively and if I did that I would remove the ones I want there for ease of use so it is a dilemma. I believe it is worth every effort to maintain as much privacy as possible while using the internet. I do not believe just by using it I give it ALL up,

Good move. I would have and have done the same under that scenario!
I'll just stick with the chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies and no one knows how many I eat!
