Binging Game of Thrones

Categories
Entertainment Blogs

My husband and I did not watch Game of Thrones when it began airing. For years my daughter has been telling my husband and I that we were really missing out, that we would love it. After my other daughter got married her husband joined in, also telling us that we would love it.

As the years went by, we were tempted to start watching it, but the time commitment seemed overwhelming. During Thanksgiving, however, my nephew and brother-in-law joined the chorus, telling us it was one of the best shows they had ever watched. After everyone else left our home on Thanksgiving, my husband and I decided to try it. We sat down to watch the first episode.

It took three episodes, but we are hooked. Over Thanksgiving weekend, we watched the entire first season. Our goal is to finish the next six seasons before the final season airs. It does mean a large time commitment to binge watching, but it is worth it.

What have you binge watched? Are you a Game Of Thrones fan? If so, beware, winter is coming.

Let’s have a little diversity along with the beautiful songs you’ve listed.

Heres some Kwanzaa:

There’s so much when you look for it.

Thank you Corey----Just listened to some of the Chanukah ones I hadn't heard---had to pass them along to my brother, etc. Happy Holidays and Happy Chanukah to those who celebrate.
Corey Bearak

True, and she dominates the YouTube version of my list. But recall you were one who turned me on to Eartha Kitt.....
Corey Bearak

The list includes a 2016 performance on The View so there may be other post-Dave's to discover. Folks help please!
Corey Bearak

Cayce, Since you proposed these, I need help here on where to place the Kwanza and Festivus on the list...
Not sure if they should be placed after Chanukah or elsewhere. The first Festivus song did nothing for me but I do not view this list as mine.
Corey Bearak

That is the fun part of this list. Adding some new nuggets.

We have watched, but got lost in it all...

Ozark. The Good Fight. Sneaky Pete. Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Not a GOT watcher. Too much unnecessary violence for me.
Corey Bearak

I added them temporarily at very end of the YouTube list pending their integration into the list. I also put them in the list I post to my website but I am not uploading that revision until I get to the integration. That may come after the holidays. The Seinfeld one was cute. One of the Kwanza songs I found likable. Perhaps some others lurking around can weigh in on the posts. Personally I do not have to enjoy the selections, just find them artistically worthy; I can separate what I enjoy to view and hear from what may still be worthy but remain of no interest to this correspondent.

After hearing about Game of Thrones and dinner with a friend who practically accosted me because he couldn't believe I "of all people" wasn't watching it, we decided to check it out. We got hooked so fast we watched almost all of season 1 in one night...I cried uncle at 4am and we finished it the next day. LOL Since then, we've seen the entire series and I've read the books. So I guess you can say I'm a fan. We just finished binge watching Downton Abbey. We are watching other series as they come back; but prefer binge watching to having to wait for the next season.

Have heard the same from friends and a daughter but everyone who knows me knows I only watch things with happy endings whenever possible---I am told that Game of Thrones is not that. Too much negativity in the world to intentionally watch. Have binge watched on occasion but usually things like The Great British Baking Show--they all help each other, and a few others. Never able to go beyond 5 or 6 episodes of anything.
