Sun up

Categories

Waking up in the dark is my first sign that the seasons are changing. I'm not a big fan. It just seems natural that we should wake up with the sun. Light tells your body it's time to wake up.

To combat that there are daylight simulation alarm clocks that begin with a soft glow and ramp up to full brightness by your wake-up time. Imitating a sunrise in your bedroom can either positively affect the way your body responds to waking up or a royal pain in the butt.

I rarely use an alarm and naturally wake up at the right time. However, I'm less likely to when it's dark outside. Guess I'll be a little late to my morning meetings :-)

I'm upset that I'm stuck using the treadmill on weekday mornings now because it gets light too late for me to feel comfortable going for a morning walk before work. The darkness totally depresses me in general.

Waking up and not seeing the beginning of sunlight means I need to sleep more. I can wish ...

I love waking to sunlight.
I enjoy working in sunlight even more.
At the same time I sometimes work in dark or low light when I am not dealing with written or printed material.

I too like to wake when its light out. In a few weeks we turn the clocks back so that will likely happen again. Then we lose the light an hour earlier. Always a huge debate to move clocks or not.

The other side is upsetting too, walking out of the office in the dark. It feels like you missed the whole day.
