Waking up this morning I caught myself getting "up to speed" by checking my email and responding to some, looking at the weather, monitoring websites, etc.

It struck me how fast the pace of business and life has become. Activities for children are scheduled and parents race to keep them on time. In business, at any point during the say I'm answering one of my emails, getting on a conference call, writing copy among other tasks all at the same time. Everybody wants everything now.

I stopped myself and started making some oatmeal. The package says it will take 25-30 minutes on a stove top or in the microwave for 5. I chose to cook them traditionally...I can wait :-)

I looked for your blog this morning. Not yet there I peaked at some email mostly to delete. Not having SCHEDULED ball this morning I made cooked my special omelette. Coffee was already made (device is programmable).
I like how everyday stuff get into a blog.
Btw I nuke; one less item to clean.

I love oatmeal cooked on the stove. Something so different about the taste when it's cooked traditionally. Also love adding nuts and raisins.

In my career I traveled mostly at 10 miles a minute . Or eight tenths the speed of sound . I had to make decisions in nano seconds . Important ones . In the Navy I sometimes traveled at 12 miles a minute or the speed of sound . I made up for it by approaching the rest of my life in slow motion . Walking , talking , eating and living . Come on Dad ! What's the rush ? Punctuality however was an obsession . Slow Smoked brisket however was another obsession . Time is money ? Get a life instead . Congrats on the oatmeal decision . Savor . Throw the watch away . Taste. Smell the roses . Life is short . Don't rush it . Breathe !!

We miss so much when we rush through everything. I've been making it a habit to slow down and enjoy life.

I am constantly reminding myself to look around and take in what is around me. Each birthday one of my daughters gives me a gift to push me towards mindfullness and meditation. Hasn't clicked, but today I will stop, too late for breakfast oatmeal, but perhaps some for lunch and for the first time in many many years, will cook it on the stove.
