You're Never Too Old

I eat a different variety Chobani yogurt every morning.  Last Sunday I mentioned that I was enjoying my favorite and Joanne asked “Which one is it?”.   I looked at the label and responded S’mores.

The name was unusual and new to me, so I asked Joanne it’s meaning and she said “haven’t you ever had a s’more?”.  When I told her no, she explained that when she was young at campfires they made a concoction of graham crackers,  Hershey‘s chocolate squares and roasted marshmallows to make a s’more.

We roasted marshmallows at my camp fires, but that’s all.  Who knew?

It just goes to prove that you’re never too old to learn something new!

As Ben would concur you can glean new things even doing the same thing(, including writing and reading a blog).
p.s. I use Chobani plain yogurt in place of sour cream for dips.

S'mores also refers to - need to have SOME MORE. In British they call this kind of food "moorish"

So true! Age has nothing to do with our ability to learn new things. It's about being curious and having an open mind. You were curious enough to ask and listened to the answer. There's a lot to this simple story.

Indeed, smores are "scrummy" (another british expression). Universally loved in our house---and with Dandy marshmallows (vegan)---we can all enjoy them!!

And if you want a different take, this time of the year, try a Mallomars. Chilled in the fridge or freezer is my favorite. But the combination is similar just not hot and melted.

Joanne comes from more goyishe roots ? Jewish mothers frowned on messy anomalies . Concoctions didn’t play well . I learn something new everyday . Mostly from you . By the way ....Egg creams and s’mores go together as long as you use Fox’ U-Bet in the egg cream recipe . Didn’t I send you a case ?

I love them. I call them “Helmets”

I agree with Ben, better late than never. I am as surprised as Joanne probably was that you had never had s'mores. Oh, by the way, they will keep ypu young(er)!

Sorry Neill, for me s'mores was a Jewish thing. I went to a Jewish sleep away camp and the best part of campfires was the s'mores. The only debate was did you lightly toast your marshmallow (as I did back then) or did you let it go on fire to roast (as I do now)?
