What's In Your Wallet -- Redux

Do you have cash in your wallet? I’m not asking how much just whether there is anything green in there. I’m pretty sure the answer is generational.

I always have cash in my wallet, together with some emergency money stashed somewhere for well, an emergency.

However, with the advent of Paypal and Venmo and mobile banking of all sorts, is there really a need for cash anymore?

I know that my children and their friends hardly ever carry cash.

How about you?

I generally tip in cash so that dictates the need and also for when you go out in a group, we pay in cash when splitting a check.

Always carry cash. I too tip in cash also buy from food trucks where they only take cash. At Gotham meetings -- well you need cash for "Season of Giving"...the need comes up.

Cash was king. It's still accepted most places. ;^) I always carry cash, and always have encouraged my wife and kids to have some cash with them. I agree it's generational.

Since so many people don’t carry cash anymore I wonder how homeless and street artists survive. I do carry a couple of dollars especially to give to them. And there’s a $50 tucked somewhere just in case.

I’m so glad to hear it’s generational, I could never understand why my children did not understand the need to have cash. The hidden emergency cash just in case, it’s something I always stressed. Now I understand the response that “it’s fine mom”. Hopefully it’s also generational that I have no understanding of Venmo

I always have cash on me, and some at home, in case of emergency. I'd like to believe its generational, but my twin brother thinks cash is stupid, and pays with his phone. My nieces and nephews never have cash.

I pay cash quite often and try to tip in cash even if I charge a meal. Millennials seem to put everything on their cards and I notice that some of the new coffee and salad places don't take cash. I always have a $20 tucked away just in case of - not sure what! And I always have something in my pocket for a busker who captures my imagination or someone in need.
