It's Official

I’m not happy about it but here we are – it’s the official end of summer.

You know, it’s that time of year when the weather starts to change, the kids all head off to school and that slowed down pace we had all become accustomed to disappears with the heat of the sun.

Oh wait – it was over 90 degrees today and the forecast is the same for the indefinite future. Does this mean that I can drive up to college and bring my son home on the basis that summer really isn’t over? Does this mean that we can all continue the pace of summer into next week? Does this mean that the pool club is going to stay open another week or two?

Some might say I am dreaming. As for my protest I think I am going to continue to wear my white shoes until at least the weather changes.

Happy Fall Gotham!

Here's hoping that the weather holds up for Saturday's Gotham picnic!

Once the nest goes empty it becomes easy to disregard that tradition. Indeed with one exception, I noticed no discernible difference in traffic that supposedly gets lighter during July and August. For me the only difference involves Shelly going to work.

Go for it! I dress for the weather, not the calendar. Besides, according to the calendar, the last day of Summer is September 22nd. Though the tradition is not to wear white after Labor Day, I maintain the calendar date of the last day of Summer can be used as a loophole.
