Happy Fathers Day

Continuing our Father's Day tradition, today is the Annual Father's Day Bernstein Cup Golf Tournament.  We missed one year when my younger son was not in town, and though we tried to reschedule the round on a different day it never happened.  So the new rule is that we play ON Father's Day, and whoever can't make it misses out.  Harsh, but necessary.  This year my son in law is out of town, so I will play with my two sons and one of their friends, Rande, who I have known since he is 4 years old.  Close enough. To be eligible he will have to bring a Father's Day offering.

The dilemma is whether he is eligible also for the Bernstein Cup.  He is a far better player than any of us and there is little doubt he will win, though I am planning some subtle covert distractions.  Like a bullhorn.  Assuming he does though, the rules require the winner to play again next year to defend the Cup.  If my two sons and son in law play next year, how will we have room for Rande?  The Bernstein Cup tournament director will have to make a decision about that this morning.

I wish my father was around for this.  He would have loved it.  He especially would have loved playing with his two grandsons and the jokes and teasing would be endless.  We will be missing and thinking about you, Dad.

My son Josh, the reigning champion, has shined up the Cup. Now on to the tee.

Happy Father's Day to all.

Please describe the cup for us...

Some sons and daughters are acquired by osmosis through our children. I have two more daughters when the timing seems appropriate. Rande qualifies, so throw the golf balls at him.

We have two children "by osmosis", Evan and Christie. If she continues to be our younger daughter's best friend, then Anna will be our third. The best part of these "extra" children is that we don't have to pay for their college tuition!
