On Time

When I was young I suffered from severe youthful irresponsibility which was best exemplified by being habitually late. It’s a fact that I was an hour late to my PSAT test. As a consequence, I really hated myself for this characteristic which forced me to flip into a person who hates to be late.

One of our biggest disagreements in our long and bountiful marriage is that Joanne doesn’t need to be early and I have to be.

One of the consequential manifestations of this trait is that my watch is set five minutes fast.

It was music to my ears to learn that MSNBC rising star Ari Melber sets his watch seven minutes fast!

It is said that a familial trait of ours is being late— but that only somehow correlates to family gatherings.

I can testify to your punctuality - I u fortunately tend to be a bit lax in that department - however when I have a date with you - I try to beat you there - ha ha ha .
Fred Klein

In my world, if you’re on time, you’re late!
Never understood setting the watch ahead.

I am neurotically early to almost everything. Except for the cocktail party on Wednesday, I was held up at a settlement conference. But, even those fifteen minutes gave me anxiety!!!
Daniel Schwartz

I try to be early, but sometimes traffic messes that up and causes much anxiety. I do keep the car clock a couple of minutes fast.

On time performance . In Many realms of our society punctuality is critical . Law enforcement . Military . First responders . Transportation . Consequences occur for the lack of punctuality in those realms . Being late is bad . Annoying . Irresponsible. Thoughtless and revealing . Most in my family pay little attention to punctuality . Consistently 20 to 30 minutes tardy . And thinking nothing of it . Predictably my Marine Lieutenant has always been 15 minutes early . Arriving late is a way of saying that your own time is more valuable than the time of the person who waited for you . So Derf you learned your lesson early on as I did . Good for you . I lose a portion of respect for the tardy .
