Happy . . .
Did you know that June 7 was National Donut Day? First celebrated in 1938 by the Salvation Army in Chicago, the holiday was established as a fundraiser for those in need during the Great Depression, and to honor the Salvation Army “donut lassies” who served deep-fried rounds of dough to famished soldiers during World War I. What began as a small celebration in Chicago has since been celebrated internationally every year on the first Friday of June. And so on June 7 thousands of participating donut shops around the country observed the day by offering free donuts to customers.
Reading this, I was curious about other similar holidays. I was shocked to see that there is almost one a day and includes the following:
1. Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day-last Monday in January;
2. World Laughter Day-January 11;
3. National Paper Airplane Day-May 26;
4. Monkey Day-December 14;
5. System Administrator Appreciation Day-Last Friday in July.
In my research I was shocked to see Festivus, the holiday created on the television show Seinfeld, included on many calendars. If you could create a holiday, what would it be?
Enjoy the outing Gotham!!!

1) Only music I select --
Some may like, others would appreciate it, including a lot of live stuff not generally played except on a few devices that may have what resides on my iPhone and MacBook, or within my vinyl collection still to be digitized.
Fred has a better sense -- perhaps an inside look -- than most others what my collection looks like; Odey may have best sense of what I prefer
2) Special screenings of some great movies, not necessarily on anyone's radar (my Facebook page might hint at at a few)
3) Networking breakfasts, coffees, lunches, cocktails, and dinners that emphasize access for those who lack it (whether they know it or not).
4) A Mets team that wins convincingly (mulling whether perfect game should be thrown in).
5) An announcement that the Woody Johnson sold the Jets to Wang and they plan to build a domed stadium in place of the Nassau Coliseum
6) An annual Buffalo Springfield reunion with Poco opening (Richie playing with both, Timothy B sitting in, Paul rejoined, and Rusty focusing on instruments rather than vocals), surviving Byrds as bonus act.
7) 90 minutes of full-court in the morning and an hour of volleyball (with no "Pops", and other who remain nameless because they remain nice people but lousy players)
8) No blogging because no time to review or respond (not just Gotham involved here)
9) Jonathan and Marisa in town without responsibilities.
10) School out so Shelly does not need to take a day.
and the ability to revise it as my muse suggests.

As it is graduation season we should have parent appreciation day and maybe a fundraiser for all the money the last year of HS cost.
