A Royal Wedding For Our Times

Its two days later and social media is still all abuzz about the Royal Wedding. I believe Russel Crowe expressed it best. He tweeted, “It feels like the world paused for a moment to witness love.” I felt the same way, with all of the horrific news coming out of Texas and Cuba on Friday it was nice to take a short break away and witness the wedding of a young couple in love.

Watching Harry’s expression when he saw his bride walking down the aisle and seeing him mouth to her, “You look amazing. I love you,” brought a much needed smile to my face. And Princess Charlotte’s  enthusiastic wave to the crowd after the ceremony made me laugh.

Bishop Michael Curry’s sermon, called “The Power of Love,” was another powerful moment for me, especially given the violence of last week. He essentially challenged guests and viewers the world over to imagine a love so powerful that it could change the world. He said, “When love is the way, we actually treat each other like we are actually a family.” Poignant words for our times.

When the wedding was over, my children began texting me asking my opinion of Meghan’s dress (which I loved) and the hats worn by all of the celebrities. But, I think it was the expressions of love that will stay with me.

Did you watch the Royal Wedding? What did you think of the hats?

Did not watch, but saw some of the post marriage coverage at a local diner with my son. Lets hope the love remains and the world can head in a more peaceful direction.

Not a hat person here. Not interested in the coverage; only the symbolism involving the bride.

I am a royal watcher, have been for years. I loved William and Kate’s wedding but Harry and Meghan’s was special.

If they are who they truly appear to be, they will do much good in the world and that is wonderful. Love that she’s older divorced and blended. Loved both dresses and Harry looked great too. Long live the Duchess of Sussex!
