As you watched the spectacle of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle get married this moring you may have missed this important story...Hasbro announced it has trademarked one of the most recognizable aspects of one of its most iconic products: the smell of Play-Doh.

Play Doh

Yesterday the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office officially recognized the distinctive Play-Doh smell as a registered trademark of the brand, which first hit stores in 1956.

Hasbro released a statement describing the unique oder as a "sweet, slightly musky, vanilla-like fragrance, with slight overtones of cherry, and the natural smell of a salted, wheat-based dough."

Mmmm I wonder what other scents might be trademarked...

I can't resist the scent of Cinnabon. Non food items, a new Jaguar and the smell of an ocean breeze.

Why did it take so long? I’d have thought they acted in a protective manner decades ago.
