Flying My Freak Flag

Fred has a saying that I love, “Let your freak flag fly.” While I have never specifically discussed this with Fred, I have always taken this to mean, be proud of your individuality. Embrace what makes you different.

For me, my freak flag involves my love of science fiction. I grew up watching science ficton on television, “Star Trek,” “Lost in Space,” and “Space 1999” (only true science fiction fans would know the last one). As an avid reader of any type of fiction, a science fiction book or series choice almost always follows a general fiction choice. In fact I just read and loved the “The Red Rising” trilogy, a great science fiction trilogy about the fictional colonization of Mars.

Of course my love of science fiction extends to movies, “Star Wars,” “Star Trek,” “The Matrix,” “The Martian,” and “Avatar” and anything “Avengers.” And while I loved the latest Avengers movie, “Infinity Wars” and cannot wait for the sequel,  “The Black Panther” was actually my favorite Avengers movie. My reasons why may be a topic for a different blog.

Now that I’ve told you about my freak flag, unfurl yours. What makes you different? What makes you, you?

I just try to be me and never view my doings as "freaky" (albeit others might). Whether it be my predilection to certain tees (which may or may not show through a dress shirt), "pocket squares" (not that I use that "fold") in suits, the color blue (maybe that helps me enjoy Gotham's website!) -- two shades of which grace my office, and whatever else someone might share (which I might not.....).

I too love the Sci-Fi stuff and yes Space 1999 with Martin Landau and then real life wife Barbara Bain (of original Mission Impossible fame) was an interesting idea that lasted only two years. Big Star Trek fan original and films too.

Not certain what others would find freaky, possible more than I care to know.
Original Star Trek was one of my favorite things---I believe in the Star Trek theory.
Fringe remains the ringtone on my phone.
