A special evening

I, and other members of the book club I belong to, had a special treat last night. A delicious dinner at the Friars with the author of the book we read.

Marty Appel, author of 20 books, PR Director for the Yankees among other very notable achievements, was there to talk about his experiences with the Yankees and most importantly about his latest book, Casey Stengel. Wearing a World Series ring, he recounted many inside stories that we all loved to hear.

Now I could tell you some juicy stories but that would break the rules of the book club. What happens in the book club stays in the book club :)

What I can share is that Marty was gracious enough to fulfill the tradition of authors who have met with the Gotham book club and now our book club. He sang a song. (Fred has the video)

It was a great night and he sang "Oh Canada"!

Marty was also in one of the very first foursomes to win at the Gotham Golf outing

Was there a limo involved??? I saw a pic on Facebook. . . Either way, chatting with the author had to be incredible.
