Nothing like live

Nothing like live music; especially good live shows.

Already this month, famous for the "Ides of ...."  and how it "weathers," shapes up rather nicely.

On its second day, I enjoyed original Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Phil Lesh ("Bobby & Phil Duo") at Radio City.

On the "Ides", no assassinaton but rather a celebration of two great talents, both members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Traffic and Buffalo Springfield. As I tweeted that eve Dave Mason smoked and Richie Furay rocked (the NYCB Theatre at) Westbury.  Listen to a great version of Richie's Poco classic, A Good Feelin' to Know, performed to close his show that eve.  Hear Dave perform a cover of The Shadows, surf music instrumental, Apache.

And then last night.  Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes at B.B. King Blues Club on "couples night"

And more shows on my "schedule" this month and of course, the Annual Gotham Battle of the Bands® at the legendary Cafe Wha? next month.

Any show you saw recently or plan to see that you wish to share?

Cayce Crown

I remember my early days of concerts, seeing Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes at Municipal Auditorium ATL in '71, or Melanie, for $3; or the Allman Brothers (intact original) at Piedmont Park for free. Last night we went to see Wicked, front row mezz, $232/tkt (we didn't pay that).
I still love LIVE music, but its so more of an investment now. Best seats to see Alice Cooper at the Beacon, $210. I don't know how the "kids" can see live shows.
Different times, different access. I didnt take any pictures at those concerts with my phone...

Dave Mason was fabulous for sure! (Sorry I couldn’t talk when I saw you.) Amazing when they can sound so good after all these years. Nothing like great music to cure the effects of a bad day-or aging! Rock on!!

Has anyone heard of Show Score? Possibly best price tickets to shows and concerts. I love a variety of music and thankfully have seen many performers. Still I agree with Cayce ticket pricing is too high to see as often as I’d like.

Saw Dixie Dregs Thursday night at The Paramount in Huntington. Had second row Center seats right in front of Steve Morse and Alan West. My buddy Mike got us on the GUEST list for the Founders Room (a speakeasy with rooms hidden by movable bookcases. Complete with another live band and multiple bars). Bumped into my buddy Rob Basso and long time Clients Steve & Holly.

They played a lot of cool stuff including Free Fall and Go For Baroque. At the end of the show I was handed the set list and a guitar pick. Can’t wait to go back there.

Next up is front row, back stage seats for U2 at The Coliseum on 6/9 but I’m sure something will pop up before !

One of the last Elton John shows in Vegas the first Saturday in May. I read that he cancelled the one scheduled for the following weekend due to the royal wedding. Whew!!!!

I recall the old Schaeffer, later sponsored by Dr. Pepper, shot at Central Park's Wolman Rink that that the White House occupant screwed us out of us. Some really great show I attended inside and others (I need to re-create that sub-list!!!) viewed from the "rocks" outside. Those were the days -- and really great free shows on the Great lawn, Airplane, Starship, New Riders, Beach Boys. I generally buy the most cost-effective seats at the larger venues. BTW, it infects sporting events too!

Fred's muse has written and done podcasts on pricing and it certainly remains complicated. Need to explore Show Score. Because Shelly is UFT, I have used TDF.

Glad you enjoyed that show but cannot see me passing up any other shows for a bill including Dave and Richie.
