Some people can do it and others can’t. I love to do it and I’m very good at it. I’m at my best at it when I’m home alone. Can you do it?

I’m talking about doing work at home (did you think I was talking about something else?) Oftentimes, if I have to be in court in the city in the morning, instead of heading back to the office afterwards, I’ll go home. I find that, that time when I alone in my house, I am at my most productive. There’s no distractions from the phone, people popping their heads into my office etc. I often joke that I can get five hours worth of work finished in three hours at home.

Of course this only works if I am alone in the house. Last Wednesday afternoon, when the weather started getting bad, I packed up documents needed to draft a pre-nuptial agreement and headed home. I was sure I would get it written at home. When I got home, however, the rest of my family was there. Even though I made a valiant effort to seclude myself and get the work done, the temptation of being with my family was too great. The pre-nup had to wait for the next day.
