Sal

Some time ago, Nancy blogged about old friends. About two weeks ago, I received an email from Gothamite William Skody giving me regards from his neighbor, Sal. Sal and I worked together over twenty years ago. I liked Sal then and I like him now. We’ve kept in touch. I’ve always liked Sal. He’s a real mensch (as Fred would say, that’s a legal term). Sal helped me in a very special way many years ago. When my father asked me to take him home from the hospital, Sal helped me fulfill my father’s last request. My father had to go home on a respirator with a hospital bed. One call to Sal made it happen. When Amparo recently asked about an oxygen concentrator I promptly forwarded the Fredslist posting to Sal. Definitely in Sal’s area of expertise, the recent reconnection through William, the memories of so many years ago. It all came together. Sal responded, as I knew he would. As I said, he’s a mensch.

What a great story. There is help everywhere if we just look clearly. Old friends are priceless.
