Moving Pictures
It was with nostalgic sadness that I learned that the venerable pre war Port Washington movie theater closed. Of
course, with the advent of Netflix and their competitors it should not be surprising. Sad still, nonetheless.
The Academy Awards will be announced on March 4th and in preparation therefor we try to see as many of the nominated films as possible (in the remaining theaters).
To date, we have seen The Post, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and The Shape of Water. Joanne favors Billboards, but I just know that Water will float away with the Best Picture Oscar (dubbed by Bette Davis).
Water really got to me and without giving away too much, the swamp god/monster reminded me of our puppy Charcoal and I was all in with empathy, emotion and real tears.
These 3 nominated movies will be the subject of this week's (newly constituted Poll) so please chime in.

BTW I LOVED The Shape of Water. Thought it was deep on so many levels.

Shape of Water my favorite.
Phantom Thread second. History buffs must see Darkest Hour and The Post. I Tonya and Mudbound were compelling, too.
If we don t go to theaters, they will
disappear!!

We tend to concerts and occasional plays more than films but very much enjoyed my most recent movie theater experience and while not cheap (neither are concerts or plays and movies still less pricey), I want to do it again.
