You have to see Get Out. Those three are good, but this is profound. Not to mention I, Tonya which is superb. And Mudbound, brilliant.

Isn’t it a long trip to go to the movies in Port Washington from Key West?

Sadly my favorite theater closed as well. Lincoln Plaza - art house theater. Also Sunshine Cinemas- another Art house. I love going to the movies - and i see this as an end to an era.
BTW I LOVED The Shape of Water. Thought it was deep on so many levels.

Phantom Thread second. History buffs must see Darkest Hour and The Post. I Tonya and Mudbound were compelling, too.

I know we want to see The Darkest Hour.
We tend to concerts and occasional plays more than films but very much enjoyed my most recent movie theater experience and while not cheap (neither are concerts or plays and movies still less pricey), I want to do it again.

Unfortunately I never seem to get to see movies until they are on Netflix or On Demand but I did get to see The Post, timing was right. I can't vote and now feel like I should start making more of an effort--Glen Cove did convert the old local theater into one with comfy seats which you can reserve, still small so perhaps it will be the push I needed.

These movies will move you to tears and make you reflect on who we are indviidually and as a society.

The Silver Screen . I'd climb the Roslyn Clock Tower steps around noon on Saturdays . The matinee started at one . Twenty Five cents admission . I'd eat a sandwich at the top of the Tower and be in line by 12:45 . Thinking wow it's only Saturday afternoon . No school til Monday . I was the King of the World . Leo's Jack Dawson . Cartoons, newsreels and coming attractions . My genre of Steve McQueen, Lee Marvin , Spencer Tracy , Mitchum and Peck . George C Scott .The Hepburns, Lee Remick and Jack Lemon . Newman and Redford . I was more about the performances as an adult . DeNiro , Pacino , Hoffman , Nicholson and Hanks . So to the point ? Gary Oldman . Darkest Hour . The transformation . The character played by a classily trained Brit . A lock . Nuff said . Tearing me away from my home theater environment and my recliner is a task in itself . I'll go for Eastwood acting and directing . DeNiro . Pacino . Hanks . Streep . Nicholson . Heath Ledger's Joker trumped Jack 's . So yeah . Diane and I stay home and watch Turner Classic Movies . Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers . Henry Fonda . Jimmy Stuart . Bogey and Bacall .Wow !! On and on ! Brando ! I Coulda Been a Contender !
