A Creep Is A Creep
Four blogs ago I focused on those who by action(s) or inaction(s) enable creeps to perpetrate terrible harm or worse on others.
Friday I received an email disturbing in content: it defended Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore. I replied,
“So are you saying that notwithstanding Moore’s conduct he merits election to any public office?
"A creep is a creep whether left or right or anywhere in between.”
An incredulous response in part read,
“Are you saying you believe the charges even though those making them know they will never be heard at a trial?”
Clearly that person and many others including some with their own television shows need to learn a lot about power and those who abuse.
The bottom line never let acclaim over one’s art, past achievements, or just a need for a reliable vote in a legislative body, to provide a pass. No creep can even cite Machiavelli to provide any justification.
Bad conduct remains bad conduct.
We need as a society to never condone nor excuse it.

I do hope that with all the focus on sexual harassment and assault that, perhaps, this is the moment in time when things do change. As I wrote on Facebook, however, I am still pessimistic about the possibility of change. During the Clarence Thomas hearings-specifically Anita Hill's testimony-I was so optimistic that that was the moment in time when the harassment we were all living with would end. Unfortunately, as is clearly evident by all of the current reports it did not. Hopefully, this will be the time.

A news show host made the point how before '92 the candidate would routinely drop out; that changed that year and two dozen years later.
