The Kennedy File Release

Categories
Politics

This week was a big week in history, the John F. Kennedy assignation files were released. Nearly 3,000 secret government files related to John F. Kennedy’s 1963 assassination have been made public more than 50 years after he was gunned down as he and his motorcade rode through Texas’ Dealey Plaza.

Now, we have received  an up-close look at authorities’ struggle to make sense of the death and determine Lee Harvey Oswald‘s motive for shooting the president. The document dump also gives the curious a chance to search for clues that would either bolster or debunk conspiracy theories.

Many have been waiting for these documents to be released for a very long time. Based on the news reports I have read, however,  there do not seem to be any “smoking guns,” in the documents. What do you think?

Never expected anything new from this doc. dump. I suspect the timing of the release as a bit curious. We'll know more maybe in the morning

Gore Vidal once said, "I'm not a conspiracy theorist, I'm a conspiracy analyst." That said, and not really a conspiracy theorist (or analyst) myself, I wonder if the files that FBI and CIA are still desperately fighting to keep secret will ultimately reveal: (a) that they screwed up big time and lost track of Oswald in Dallas; and (b) even as the lone shooter, Oswald had stronger ties to subversive foreign elements than either agency has heretofore publicly admitted.

I don’t think the government would release a “smoking gun” if they had one. I bet the real story would blow people’s minds if we knew it. Like all politicians, President Kennedy was involved in a lot of shady stuff.

When you wrote assignation files in the first paragraph I thought you were going to mention Marilyn and Judith Exner...

There are documents that were held back from this release....

Watched a program on TV of the assassination of the President and a reenactment of the shooting of Oswald - no smoking gun but are they really telling us everything. Doubt it...
