Delivered Right to Your Fridge

Apparently, Walmart is testing a new service. Not only can your groceries be delivered to your front door, soon they will be able to be delivered directly to your refrigerator.

Here is how it works. You order groceries. They get delivered whether you are home or not. The delivery person gets a one-time code to enter your house and proceeds to unpack your groceries and put them away. All the while, you are watching by means of an app on your phone.

OK, Gotham – what do you think? Is this a step towards convenience in the right direction or a step too far?

I use Peapod and I love it. I set up my order a week in advance and then all week long I can change it from my computer. And, then they deliver it right to my kitchen. I absolutely love the convenience of it although I don't think I would like the step where Walmart is going.

Sorry, truly a step too far (although I can see others jumping at it). Haven't even gotten to ordering groceries online, although I am about to do so with Whole Foods and Amazon and taking a leap of faith that will get the food I actually pick myself.

I've been using Fresh Direct for years and love it; though I don't think I'd want them placing the food in my refrigerator for me.
