Disney, The Guras Are Coming!!

Having had an unexpectedly hectic summer, my husband and I decided to look into taking a quick, low cost, get away this weekend. We looked into various road trips as well as places that were a short flight away. I was shocked as to how inexpensive it would be to fly to Orlando. Hotel prices were equally inexpensive. Apparently, as school starts here this week and has already started in Florida, Orlando is not a popular Labor Day destination.

Initially hesitant about booking a trip to Orlando, we decided to book the trip and experience Disney differently than we have in the past with our children. Labor Day will be spent at Epcot experiencing food and drinks from around the world at the different world pavilions. For Sunday evening I booked dinner reservations at the upscale Morimoto Asia located in Downtown Disney. And, for the science fiction nerds in the two of us, we will be going to the Animal Kingdom  to experience Pandora, the fictitious world in which the movie Avatar was set. Of course, there will be a lot of down time spent at the pool at the hotel just relaxing, more than when we travelled with the kids to Disney in the past.

Years ago, there was a Disney commercial focusing on an older couple exuberantly experiencing Disney without their children.  Admittedly, my husband and I have now become those people.

How will you be spending Labor Day?

I'll be spending the day with my husband.

Similar here, we were offered a "comp" room at the Chelsea in AC, so we took it, upgraded to oceanfront and had some great food and great beach, happily it was very quiet there. Played for 3 days, now at the office enjoying getting things done.

We always enjoy the behind-the-scene tours of the various Disney parks. They are usually adult only and very interesting. I'd love to know if you were able to "fast Pass" the Avatar ride or if you waited on line. It was impossible to get a fast pass when we were there in June. We'll be there in November too and I love the mixology seminars they run during the Food and Wine festival. Guess you can tell how my mind works :)

Aren't you glad you went! I would love to go - kids or not! Hope Irma doesn't cause to much damage to the magic kingdom!!!!
