The Cosmos Are With Me

I agree with what Ben wrote last Thursday. A solar eclipse certainly makes you think about the universe and our place in it. But, even with a solar eclipse occurring, we still have to continue with our day to day life. I have three matters on in Family Court this morning and a settlement conference scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at my office.

I spoke to the other lawyer on my settlement conference and we decided to take a break at the right time, go outside for a moment, and view the eclipse. The other attorney and I are both hopeful that the viewing of a phenomena of such magnitude may humble this warring couple for a brief moment so that they will finally settle this case in the manner that the other attorney and I have previously advised them to do.  It would be nice to-- not only have opposing counsel in agreement with me-- but to even have the whole universe on my side for a day.

What are your plans for viewing the eclipse?

BAH! I have lawns to mow this afternoon. Hoping the heightened concentration of UV will slow the grass from growing so fast! (Fortunately the lawn tractor has headlights!)

We are promised great weather in South Florida - just wished it WASN'T so HOT!!! I will be checking in with my girls at college and watching with them using facetime. Hopefully it will be a spectacular event.

We are also taking a scheduled break from meetings to watch the eclipse, thanks to Norman Spizz's willingness to share his last minute ability to score some special viewing glasses.

Love it Rona. Hopeful for the change in perspective. Sometimes it takes an eclipse!

I got scared when all the clocks in my house started ticking backwards, but pretty soon they were going forward again. Phew!

I was out and couldn't resist taking pictures of people watching the eclipse. There were crowds on street corners.

I got a chance to view the eclipse through a colleague's glasses. Surreal! The news recap showed awe inspiring photos, especially when reporting from Oregon and Kentucky! I'm glad I had a chance to pause from the hectic pace of work and see a bit of science and history. It also seemed a bit remarkable that everyone around me, along with the news reports from various locations around the country, demonstrated an excitement and enthusiasm and a glimpse of a nation united on the subject of science..and this incredible solar eclipse. What a sense of community!

My family and I are vacationing in central Florida. Spent the day at Kenedy Space Center where they had special grandstand viewing areas, live feeds from around the world (as Corey mentioned) and local news stations interviewing people. We had a 2:00 bus tour that the guide had us stop at various points to view. Very awesome. We even got those much needed glasses. It was a great and educating day for all.

In Key West, it was kind of not so noticeable, but loved seeing everyone's pics, including all the ones of people looking skyward. We should look up more.
