Last night at Gotham's 20th anniversary celebration at the Harmonie Club I was not allowed to use my cell phone in the lobby and I found my way to an old fashioned telephone booth. Some things never change. Thanks for your great photo montage (please put on fredslist) last night and your video to come!

First, what a pleasure it was last night to finally meet the person behind this blog as well as the author of so many thoughtful and insightful comments to many of the other blogs I have read since joining Gotham (I am a relative newbie.)
Communication is so vital, yet with the "blessing" of social media, the ability to think before "speaking", thoughtful discourse, and the ability to truly exchange ideas is often hampered. It is interesting to note the progression of ease of communication for the President from President Hoover's time to today.

I remember, for my 16th birthday, getting a pink princess phone in my room. For me, that was huge. In fact, a friend had to help convince my parents to purchase it for me. It meant I could finally talk to my friends in the privacy of my own room. Privacy-a great concept for a 16 year old.
