Reunion

They tracked me down. It was an email from an old high school friend forwarding information about the upcoming fiftieth reunion of my class at Brooklyn Technical High School.

Frankly, I am not one for reunions and have not attended either a high school or college reunion. But there was something about the email that caused me to save it. Perhaps it was that the email focused on a small dinner - rather than the events of the reunion - and  there were some familiar names copied on the email.

There was a link on the email to more information and registration.
And here's the best part: On the registration page were the names and graduation yearbook pictures of my class's representatives for the reunion. I recognized Gothamite Al D'Elia even before I saw his name beneath the picture.
Small world. Another great Gotham story. And another reason to go to the reunion.

FaceBook is how I discovered I attended high school with a fellow Gotham member. When Lucas Meyer and I connected on FB, I noticed we had friends from high school in common. I reached out to one of them and found out Lucas and I had been in school together; though a year apart. I wore my high school ring to the next Gotham meeting we both attended. :) Go Horsemen!

I never had much connection to my high school, but I did attend my 25th. However, Oberlin College and I have been in separable since I set foot on the campus in 1964. Not only have I attended almost every 5 yr reunion since I graduated, but they foolishly elected me Class President for most of those. The result has been an incredible group of international friends which still enriches my life to this day. Now I approach my 50th in May 2018. Yikes

Ben called and as we spoke I was going through the yearbook, which is always next to my desk. There were 1500 in our class and 6000 in the school but I recognized him immediately. Can't wait to catch up at the reunion!

Martin Van Buren class of '73 has a reunion every five years. Have not missed one. Discussions already on 45th Anniversary. And every summer many of us gather at a "court BBQ" near our alma mater outside a dear friend's home.
