Words to the Wise II

Last week my blog was inspired by a Juice Plus insert and I follow it with another:

So didn't work out the first time. Here are three tips to get you back on your feet.

1. Don't give up. Failing doesn't mean you're a failure. Failing means you tried. Most things worth achieving involve failing somewhere along the way.

2. Get thoughtful. Ask yourself: what can I learn from the set back? What do I need to change to get different results? How might plan B work out even better than plan A ever could have?

3. Imitate success. Find someone who has accomplished what you dream of accomplishing. Find out how they did it. Now do what they did.

I add to the above that it's not enough to be the best you can be.  One must dare to be great! And if you fail 99 out of 100 times you build character.  And that one other time may well be great!

Yes yes yes. Check the stories of failures like JK Rowling, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Albert Einstein, Abraham Lincoln, Steven Spielberg, Michael Jordan, Walt Disney and Vincent Van Gogh. Its an inside job.

Norm..... This ain't a moon shot or brain surgery ....... It's life . Ask Elan Musk about failure . Ask me ! Ya gotta fail to know what you are made of. It's part of life . Maybe not for SEAL TEAM SIX . But those warriors failed many times before they earned their TRIDENT ! I would say that not trying is failing . THese days I fail everyday. You see I'm trying to learn how to walk again. Trying to get rid of that hitch in my giddy up . It's tough work . Yeah failure is not an option for me Norm either . I see your point . But I didn't get to where I am by avoiding failure. Learning from failure builds character . Certainly I can call myself that ! Very Happily ! I am a CHARACTER !

I didn't get to read this blog till this morning and the timing allowed me to read so many wonderful responses. I bought something with the words "failure is not an option" at the air and space Museum in Washington for my daughters and me and it sits on my desk. My younger daughter looked at it every day when she was going through a very difficult time last year. Thank you the wonderful thoughts as we end a difficult week and begin the weekend.

I find persistence makes sense, just find the right time and place.
