FREEDOM

Despite the title, I promise absolutely no politics, no political diatribes of any kind in this commentary. Just some Chimes of Freedom.

You ask then how a discussion of Freedom involves none of the above. Well. Read on. You be the judge.

I planned to purchase an iPad in the Spring. Shelly enjoys hers. Jonathan has had several, one repurposed to his sister; even mom has one. My personal tekkie aka my son, Jonathan, perhaps frustrated at my procrastination, gifted his dad one For Free. It already changed things here. It certainly empowered me to Be Free.

And I always argue when technology makes sense it liberates you; it makes you a Freedom Rider.

Let’s look at some changes. I canceled or allowed the expiration at the end of this month of daily papers except on the weekends. The morning papers consistently arrived later than made sense, despite my complaints. It remained a source of frustration especially when I found no papers to peruse as I started my day. The iPad’s screen size also offers versatility for reading the news. I Feel Free.

I also use the iPad to read email – which frees me up from sitting at my desk. Looking at mail on my iPhone works most of the time but I never enjoyed using it for casual reading. I usually tether my MacBook Pro to an external monitor and do not like disconnecting that setup to just sit with my lap top on a couch or the dining room tab. So again, I’m Free.

If I want to view my Contacts or Calendar, or even make entries the iPad often works as well as the Mac with a few exceptions that probably matter only to this commentator. Nice to be as free as a bird now…..

When away from home or office and no WiFi connections exists for me, I connect the iPad to the iPhone (“Personal Hotspot”). Certainly empowers me to be Rockin’ In The Free World.

People Got To Be Free – I know I am!

Free At Last!

(Famous speech excerpt.)

Many A Mile To Freedom – apparently much less with an iPad.

Very very well done. They would still flying like a Freebird if pilot checked the fuel. Tragic!

I had a Kindle Fire. Just changed to a Ipad mini. I love it more than I ever expected to.

Thank you Corey. I'm going up to get my iPad obviously don't use it enough and once again I find your links not only in valuable but very comforting. Today I not only got great songs but news links as well.

Being untethered is glorious, just have to be careful not to get to close to the sun.

When Jerry and I upgraded our iPhone 6's to iPhone 7's we got mini iPads for $50 each (it was a deal). I've used iPads for business since about the time they came out. My most recent was an iPad Air that I'll probably sell on eBay. I wasn't sure I'd like the iPad mini; but love the light weight. This is particularly funny to me as I remember traveling for business carrying a laptop that probably weighed 20lbs back in the day.

Interesting. I thought about the mini v. iPhone 7 during my "consideration" phase that Jonathan intervened with. I find my MacBook Pro and iPad book very lightweight.

I know the myth well. Some would argue I should reply with the Beatles tunes (I really like the version sung at a concert Fred attended. I probably will go with studio version of a Frampton song most know from a live LP that sold a few copies and then some. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERsFjM7hDjM

I thought about Mini v getting a 7 based on sizes and not going with three devices; glad though that I agreed to go with a traditional iPad Air.

Please report back if you find yourself free more through greater use. and you are welcome!
