Gotham's Peer Mentor Program

Categories
Lifestyle

Recently, Ben blogged re our most worthy Advocates initiative. Another of our great under the radar Gotham initiatives available to all members is our peer mentor program.

Administered by Flo Feinberg, it matches Gotham peer members in a unique counter intuitive manner.  We seek to hook up 2 people from 2 different worlds so that their shared experience is potentially so much wider.  Thus, when one peer asks the other "Have you ever faced this situation before?" the response allows for broadened horizons and shared experience.

Most of our matches thrive, eg, John Buscarello and Janet Sullivan.  Of course, your match need not be a life sentence and we are open to a fruitful "Do over".

We recently made a new match and the parties are enthusiastic. Try it, I'm sure you'll like it!

I've enjoyed it's fruits.
I'm answer to the question below sort of : three lawyers.

It's always wonderful to get feedback from successful relationships that have been forged through the Mentor program, especially the "odd Couples" who turn out to become great friends!

I'm not in this world to live up to your expectations and you're not in this world to live up to mine . Easier said than done .It was Alexander Hamilton who said " Those who stand for nothing fall for anything !" Back in the day I was the Chairman of the Professional Standards Committee of a 14000 person pilot group of a legacy airline . Other than operational matters i.e. sliding off a slick runway into the mud it was our job to keep things out of the spotlight and away from management . A good Chief Pilot would even come to us to initiate our services so that the pilot and the issue could be taken care of without broad exposure. When you are dealing with Rogue Behavior by men and woman who are former military combat pilots and Bronze Star recipients per se ....... Peer influence is about the only thing that is effective . A little mentoring from someone in your same shoes goes a much longer way than a lecture from a pencil pusher that hasn't been where you have and hasn't shared the intensity of the moment with you . Peer mentoring is most effective .
