Reviewing my top shows

Happy new year!

Last week I shared Songs To Ring in the New Year, even though the blog fell on The first day of Chanukah and Christmas Day (I served up my Holiday song list the previous Sunday.). If you expected to escape music from this muse, better stop here and move on. At the end of each year, for six years running, I post to my website commentary (blog) page, my top ten concerts for the year.

I enjoy a retrospective look at the shows I attended. I record song lists for most I attend. I review the song lists and rank the concerts. I enjoy writing the commentary but often find myself under the gun to get the piece done before heading out to my lodge’s new year’s gathering which I co-host with my friend Ira Spiegel (also a member of our tribe.). Sometimes I need to wait until the new year to complete the post. This year, I indeed finished the piece and posted it to my website before heading out to party.

Let me know what you think.

Best wishes in this new year.

Great way to stay within word limit. Happy New year to you too!

There'a a word limit???

I saw Billy Joel at the Garden this year and loved it. He still puts on a great show and appears to be very grateful to have this gig. Elton John in Vegas was also great. While not a concert, I would also recommend seeing The Color Purple before it closes. It was phenomenal.

Though of you (and that nasty word limit) the entire time I drafting this short one -- expecting your response. And happy new year back at you!

Shelly has an Elton John story for you; not involving the first time we we saw together at the Garden during our engagement. Billy Joel devotes a lot of energy to his shows.

Excellent re-cap of the year Corey. I live vicariously through your post. Your ability to weave and connect band members is uncanny. My favorite show of the year was, as you described, Joe Walsh and The James Gang opening for the iconic Paul Rodgers and Bad Company.

I had never gotten to see Bad Co. previously and due to a loose connection my wife has with Simon Kirke, we got to attend the Jones Beach concert and go backstage and hang a little with Simon. That was a memorable evening and in my opinion, the best bill of the season (although the Greg Allman festival sounded pretty, pretty good too !)

Thanks Steve. I attended with "Israeli Mike" and it meant skipping out on Tues. eve ball for both of us. Very cool you got to hang with Simon. From what I read a very nice guy. And special because he and Paul remain the only living members of Free. Check your in box.

The show the children put on at the orphanage we visited in Uganda. Nothing better.
