Bait and Switch
I really really like CVS. Maybe I'm even addicted. So much so that I feel for our long term local pharmacy, but how can one resist the avalanche of discount mailers and bonuses that spew out when you pay?
Last (Black) Friday I was armed with saved discount chits and slips. I attacked with the plan that the more I bought the more I'd save. In the frenzied process I cornered the market on vitamins (without regard to those annoying expiration dates).
Purchases completed and line endured, I rolled up to the check out counter only to be crushed by the news that my chits had expired. Little solice that I was given the option to return my purchases.
All in all, it was the perfect squelch.
Maybe I should return my loyalty to the local pharmacy. Or maybe the clerk should have reached under the register for his discount card.
Such problems!

However, the last straw was when I ran to the Walgreens store because I ran out of something I needed right away. Online this product costs $4.49, in the store it cost $10.99! I was shocked. I questioned the store manager who suggested I email Walgreens corporate as he had no answer. The answer I got from Walgreens corporate..."We do not offer the same prices in online and in stores." Unacceptable! I'm now shopping through ebates at Jet.com.
Maybe I should right a guest blog about how to save money and find out what methods other Gotham members use? :)
For those interested in getting cash back on their online purchases, here's a link to ebates:

The app actually alerts you of deals and coupons as you drive by the store.
