They're in style and many men have grown them in many different lengths.

 

Fred shaves his off and grows it back several times during the year. A friend of mine wears a goatee and extends it to a full beard then shaves it back.

 

I've had mine for a very long time...30+ years. I can't remember not having a beard. I look at pictures of myself without one and they look weird. I've got more "blonde" hairs in my beard now...more than I ever used to have and a question pops into my head every now and then...

 

Do you think I should shave it off? Or leave it on? ...

I have not shaved mine in 3 years. Much easier this way and Jo likes it.

I grew one in law school; the governor's dad called me Corey Bear when I saw me. I shaved it off a next opportunity.

I was a beard for a friend of mine until his wife found out. Also read today's NY Times article in the arts section on David Lettermans beard

MT: Same here. I've had mine almost continuously since the summer before my senior year of high school (except that I shaved it off once - literally for one day - in ~1979). 42 years of hirsuteness....

Back in the 70's I wanted a beard in the worst way . Problem was that airline pilots had a strict rule against them . It actually became a negotiated item on the 1973 pilot's contract. I forgot what we gave up for it . I grew mine immediately and wore it in Portugal flying for TAP the national airline and in Singapore doing the same . Now I have a "Wolf Blitzer " with the aid of electric clippers and a # 1 blade !!
