Freeze-dried fun

Categories

Your intrepid blogger has found some downright fascninating news just in time for the summer.

Rob Collignon, A 34 year old food expert from Brooklyn has created a quite unusual treat - ice cream that doesn't melt.

Gastronaut comparison

Gastronaut Ice Cream, which comes in a bar, can be enjoyed at room temperature wherever and whenever. The organic snack is very different from its frozen counterpart, as it can be crumbled in your hands. It still is real ice cream which has been freeze-dried with nothing added to it except a pinch of salt.

Collignon said that once you begin eating it, the product transforms into the 'exact same sweet and creamy ice cream you've known all your life.'

He has a fundraising campaign on crowd-funding website Kickstarter, that has already netted more than triple his $9500 target.

I wonder what it tastes like...maybe I'll send him $25 and get 5 bars. I'm sure it ships well ;)

interesting concept. But just not sure how and where it makes sense. Some people like novelties.

I'm wondering how that differs from the "Astronaut" ice cream our kids used to make us buy them every time we went to a science museum or planetarium.
